Roquebrune-Cap-Martin

I spent a few days at a meeting of fellow bloggers in the South of France - and all you get is this black and white photo.

Facilitated with great hospitality by Jilly, we also had for company Nathalie (Avignon), Peter (Paris) and Chuckeroon (Richmond upon Thames).

I would like to be the first to ask what you were doing for the other "few" days that you have not been posting?

hey, it's better than wearing something that says, "my friend went to the south of france and all i got was this t-shirt" ! ;) looking forward to checking out the other blogs, thanks for sharing their links.

Bon sang !

Feeling jealous (and lonely).

Interesting Cergie's comments. I too wondered, at first, if the photo should be slightly darker but I think it's probably true to how it was on the day - not bright sun with heavy shadows but somewhat hazy with light shadow which is just what shows in this shot. Beautiful photograph.

Jilly - just put your sunglasses on!

Anyhow, what it really confirms in my mind is that we see things differently and wish to illustrate them differently. This may be why it's interesting to make a walk together with other bloggers and compare the "results". What is sure, is that we all enjoyed the walk ... and the rest! :-)

Well I can't translate Cergie's comments but from Jilly's there seems to be discussion regarding the contrast here. I personally like it. That's the first thing that struck me when I saw it! I think the low contrast works beautifully in this one. Look forward to more of your BW photos from France,Richard. I can only imagine how much fun you all had!

A lot of fun to see what you all chose to show us..

Some shutters are half closed... not to let the sun in..
Some are half open... to let the modern utilities come in..

The top window with its half open shutters, hanging washing and long shadow is the one that draws my attention.

Congratulations on your Monaco shot published today at Jilly's. After my acid trip of the day before, I'm glad someone restored law and order in posh Monaco!

...Of course a piece of art. And it couldn't be different !

Perhaps the angle of the sun could be better exploited by arriving just a few minutes earlier.
